Most Dissapointing Film of 2012
So you
may have read my Top Ten Films of 2012 list – but there is something else that I
felt I needed to write about: my most disappointing
film of 2012.

The Hobbit - Film Review
This is
the actual review part of my article on The Hobbit. For my verdict on
whether or not seeking out an HFR (48fps High Frame Rate) screening is worth
it, click HERE to read all about it.
It is
also worth mentioning that there may be very slight SPOILERS in the following
review so if you don't want to know anything about what happens in the film do
not read until after you've seen it.
The Hobbit - The Verdict on HFR
So, now
that I’ve seen The Hobbit (in HFR 3D as promised here) I will let you know what I thought about it. I am going to
split this into two parts: firstly, in regards to the 48fps technology and then
secondly, a review on the film itself.

Blog Layout Update
Just a couple
of announcements regarding the blog. Firstly, I have done a light redesign of
the page layout. As I am slowly increasing my readership, I have taken steps to
make the page and articles more accessible and easier to navigate.

The Hobbit - To HFR or not to HFR?
So The
Hobbit has just been released and I have plans to go and see it on
Sunday. However there is one question that has been floating around. No, not
whether or not I should watch it in 3D or not (I, unlike some people have zero problem in watching films in 3D and
actually quite enjoy the experience); but rather whether or not I should watch
it in HFR.
Argo - Exaggerating the Fiction?
Argo is the recently declassified true story
of a CIA operative given the task of safely escorting out six American embassy
workers hiding out in the city of Tehran during the 1980 American embassy
hostage situation in Iran. The stranger-than-fiction part of this story was
that the plan to rescue them was to do so under the cover of posing as a
Canadian film crew scouting for exotic locations for a made-up Star Wars
rip-off sci-fi epic named “Argo”.
In equal
parts tense drama and lightly comedic Hollywood satire, Argo remains entertaining throughout - although some have
complained about how parts of the story were omitted or exaggerated from
the actual facts of what happened. Is this a good or bad thing? Here are my
thoughts. (NOTE: may include story spoilers).

Film Roundup - November
After a super-long hiatus, I’m back - with the November Film Roundup!
Hopefully I can keep
this a regular thing once again so I don't have to resort to ridiculously long
roundups like this and this.

Dragon's Dogma - The Endless Cycle
The Capcom game Dragon’s Dogma
had an ending that came out of nowhere to knock me sideways. Here’s why…
WARNING: There will be
SPOILERS - so if, for some reason, you don't want to know what happens, stop

Track of The Week: Kristine - Modern Love (Power Glove Remix)
This week’s track is by Kristine with the song Modern Love taken from her newly release
EP of the same name.
I love the 80s sound she has, both in terms of
her amazing vocals (straight out of the era - reminiscent of singers such as Stevie
Nicks and Cyndi Lauper) and the catchy synth production that captures the nostalgic
sense of optimistic joy that a lot of the music of that decade had.

Leeds International Film Festival - Fanomenon Anime Day 2012
9.00am
Alarm goes off, waking me up at an ungodly hour
in preparation for a full day’s worth of films at Leeds International Film
Festival’s Fanomenon Anime Day 2012.
Get up. Get ready.
Give the cat some extra food
to last her through the day. Set off.
Oops - my housemate’s forgotten his ticket at
home.
Turn back, pick up ticket, set off again.

Film Roundup Turbo Edition - Part 2!
You may have been wondering, How come you haven’t done a film roundup
recently? I mean, the last one I did was for April of earlier this year.
Simple. Laziness.
Its not that I haven’t been watching films - I always watch films. LOTS of them. So I
guess it’s time I catch up quickly with another ‘turbo’ film roundup, keeping
it all short and snappy like a terrapin – much like I did the last time.
So are you ready? To quote Frenzy The NinjaB3ar: The sound horns! So Let’s Go!
