Hoo-boy. 2020, eh? What a year. Without harping on unnecessarily it has been evident that this year has brought marked changes to absolutely everyone’s lifestyle. And as the time has come round once again for my yearly review it only makes sense for that to be a bit different as well.
Firstly, in terms of film releases there have been so many cancellations and delays to cinema releases (the last time I actually went to the cinema was probably in January or February?) – so the number of new films watched has been somewhat reduced from regular years. Therefore there is naturally less to choose from when compiling my ‘10 favourite’ list. As a result the list will just be a list of 10 I enjoyed and not in any order. Despite being the tradition for a number of years now I’m not really a fan of descending order so I might do away with it all together from now on.
Secondly, I was thinking of adding a TV Series list in there as well. Being stuck at home has meant a lot of series were watched via streaming and I thought for once I would talk about some of my highlights given that it’s been a while since I’ve talked about TV series on this blog.
Thirdly, being stuck at home has meant I’ve played through an absolute shedload of games this year, especially on the Switch. Sure, there are still a couple of titles sitting unopened on the shelf (looking at you, PS4), but as you can see from the list below it is evident I have spent an obscene amount of time playing games this year: due to lockdown, being on furlough for a few months as well as a general renewed interest in games as can be seen by my various purchases of retro game handhelds. So although I have talked about the odd game here and there this year, for once I thought I might also do a Favourite list of Videogames played in 2020 as well.
So that’s a lot of writing for me to be getting on with before the year is out. As usual below is my preview list of everything – in alpha order for each category. For films the ones in bold are the only ones that are actual 2020 releases and will be considered for my Top list. The other categories may feature earlier releases but all are eligible and it is what it is – so don’t @ me!

ReplyDeleteWould you recommend I watch Underwater? I read the premise and it seemed interesting (and thought about seeing it locally before cinemas closed their doors).
